FIRST WEEK
So far, my DREU experience has been great. Since my program began, iv'e learned a little bit more about html 5, java script, and even python. Most of all, I learned about the many different pathways and careers computer science can take you. The exposure to the projects taking place in MY lab alone was enough to shock my socks off. Though I've only been here for about seven days, this program has taught me that there is way more to computer science than the technical aspect and when computational science meets real world problems, the result can be fireworks. I definitely wouldn't mind doing any computer science projects that have real world application. Computer Science related Research is absolutely amazing and though i may be outclassed by experience, age, and exposure by those around me, my determination and "drive" is unmatched. I look forward to learning all i can this summer in hopes of becoming the best version of myself that i can be. SECOND WEEK The second week of my DREU experience has been great. Along with two other undergrads, i was assigned to work on creating a balloting system for an existing software called "Prime 3". The Prime 3 software allows impaired, disabled, and many more people to vote. This is a great tool because it has the potential to increase voter participation. Im very excited to work on something that will assist this project. Aside from being assigned a project i continued to work on my html skills this week, I've been working on coding a website from scratch. It isn't easy, but its been a fun learning experience. So far, my website is very basic; basic information, basic scheme , and general design. I hope to be able to begin styling by next week. |
THIRD WEEK
My third week in the program was great! I made decent amount of progress on my wire frames and even more progress on my personal training videos. I feel much more comfortable with HTML and CSS. I've also started to learn java. Java is a bit odd at first but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it soon. As far as my summer project, I think I am constantly improving in the aspect of design. I can't wait to accomplish so much more next week. Overall this was a decently productive week.
FOURTH WEEK FITH WEEK

FOURTH WEEK FITH WEEK
My Fourth week as a DREU participant at The University of Florida was great! I made a lot of progress on my web design. As of now i almost have it finalized! I wasn't very knowledgeable about some of the key aspects of making a ballot creating system, but it turned out pretty well. With the combined help of the great grad students in the lab, Google, and my fellow DREU co- workers, I was able to gain the confidence i needed to create my first successful website design. Though it is not complete yet, it will be completely finished by early next week.

My fith week experience in the DREU Program was pretty decent. I was able to come up with a final design for my wire frame and able to get some great tips on how to start and finish a good looking prototype. At the end of the week, all of the DREU students got the opportunity to go bowling. That was definitely the highlight of my week.
Sixth Week
My sixth week in the DREU was pretty good. I actively worked on creating my prototype on power point. I wasn't experienced at designing on powerpoint but it was fairly easy once i finally got started. Though it still needs some final touches, i believe i have a really good powerpoint prototype. Seventh Week My seventh week i got some great feedback on my powerpoint prototype and began to tweak and edit some of the things i could fine tune. I've added a few new concepts and functions that add to the overall flow and utility of the website. I have confidence that soon my website prototype will be full proof. Eighth Week The eighth week of my Dreu Experience was very productive. I transferred my powerpoint prototype into invasion and got some great user feed back. I got the opportunity to edit it a bit based on the feedback and learn a little bit more about conducting user feedback. My prototype is finally complete ! Ninth Week The ninth week of my Dreu experience was great! We worked on creating our final posters to present to the DREU program participants and mentors. I created my poster layout from scratch! It was a very fun and interesting process. Ultimately i think that i was able to clearly communicate and argue my summer findings and hard work Tenth Week The last and final week of my Dreu Experience was spent finalizing and practicing to explain our posters to those who had questions. We made a powerpoint summary of our summer findings, practiced defending our findings in front of an audience and also, and also formulated a final paper that summarized our whole Dreu experience and research in its entirety. |
